Organizing My Day: Juggling Work, Family, and Everything in Between

Some days it feels like I’m spinning plates. Between real estate appointments, Skylar’s softball games, Teagan’s dance recitals, family dinners, showings, inspections, and the never-ending “Dad, can you…” moments—life gets full, fast.
But truthfully? I wouldn’t have it any other way.
The key to keeping it all from crashing down is organization—and not just the color-coded kind (though that helps). It’s about having systems, routines, and the ability to pivot when life does what it does best: throws the unexpected.

Mornings in our house start early. Coffee is brewing, the girls are getting ready, and we’re already checking what’s on the schedule. We rely heavily on our shared Google Calendar, which shows up on our Skylight screen in the kitchen. It’s a lifesaver. Everything goes on there—softball practice, client meetings, camping trips, you name it. Having that visual helps everyone know what’s coming next.

On the work side of things, staying organized isn’t optional. I use a CRM to manage client interactions, follow-ups, showings, and timelines. It keeps everything in one place so nothing slips through the cracks. Between current deals and new listings, it’s easy to get overwhelmed—but the structure keeps me focused and allows me to give each client the attention they deserve.

When it comes to bigger projects or planning ahead—like prepping listings, scheduling mailers, or mapping out a busy month—I lean on Asana. It breaks down my chaos into checklists. There’s something about crossing off a task that makes the day feel a little more under control.

And while time is tight, we still prioritize the little things that help keep us sane—like ordering groceries online (huge win), making handwritten to-do lists, or carving out time for a quick walk or round of golf. It’s those in-between moments that create balance.

Of course, not everything goes as planned. Sometimes a softball game runs long, or a showing pops up last-minute. Sometimes the girls just want to hang out in the pool a little longer—and honestly, that’s okay. Part of staying organized is being flexible, knowing what has to get done today and what can wait until tomorrow.

Family time is sacred. Whether we’re camping up north, watching Skylar pitch a tight game, or seeing Teagan light up the stage at dance, I do my best to be fully present. That’s the real “why” behind all of it.

At the end of the day, juggling work, family, and life takes intention. It’s not about doing everything perfectly—it’s about creating rhythms that keep you grounded, even on the busiest of days. Because while the plates might spin fast, when they’re balanced just right, they create something pretty incredible.
